Educational Background:
Dr Omidi obtained his PharmD degree from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (TUOMS), Tabriz, Iran in 1991. He was then worked as a lecturer in TUOMS, Tabriz, Iran (1992-1999). Having awarded a full scholarship for a PhD degree in the field of Pharmaceutical Cell Biology and Biotechnology, he obtained his PhD from the Welsh School of Pharmacy, Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK in 2003. As an academic member, he has worked in the Center for Genome-based Therapeutics, Cardiff University, UK (2003-2004) investigating on the gene-based nanomedicines. Dr Omidi, as the founding director of the Research Center for Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology (RCPN) set up RCPN in 2004 as the first high-tech center for the nanomedicine researches in Iran. RCPN has nationally been recognized as a center of excellence, pioneering cutting age researches in the field of pharmaceutical nanobiotechnology with the state-of-the-art facilities. Dr Omidi is working as a full Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, focusing on Pharmaceutical Nanobiotechnology and Drug Delivery and Targeting at TUOMS Faculty of Pharmacy. While supervising MSc, PharmD and PhD students and serving as the head of the National Institute of Medical Researches at TUOMS, he teaches several subjects such as biopharmaceutics, pharmacogenomics, pharmaceutical nanotechnology and biotechnology and medical and pharmaceutical English language. In 2008, he founded the School of Advanced Biomedical Sciences in Tabriz-Iran, and acted as the Dean of School till 2011. He has worked as a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) leading an international program on multifunctional nanomedicine for targeted therapy of ovarian cancer (2011-2013). He is member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and has published over 100 papers and book chapters with h-index of 23. He has proven leadership, integrating several scientific domains and disciplines towards translational researches in targeted therapy and molecular detection of diseases. As an internationally well-known scientist, Dr Omidi serves editorial board of several scientific journals while acting as EIC of BioImpacts - an internationl journal for translational and bench-to-bedside researches.
